Forbes-Hewlett Company News

The crew from TruckerTelevision visited our office August 13th for a featured segment which aired Sunday, August 31st on CTV Two. A big thanks to everyone who took part and to the wonderful crew at TruckerTelevision! Watch the episode here:

In July, Forbes-Hewlett introduced a performance program for its company highway drivers. The company recognizes the importance of having such a program as it wants to emphasize the security of its drivers and ensure that it is maximizing the fuel efficiency of the fleet.

Canadian drivers are feeling the effect of the ever-increasing cost of fuel. Forbes-Hewlett drivers and owner-operators are no exception to this. As a result, Forbes-Hewlett is working to upgrade our fuel saving strategies. The company is also conscious of the impact of gas emissions on the environment. It recently introduced the Esso Card to the Forbes-Hewlett owner-operators. The Esso Card will average a savings of $0.05 - $0.10 cents per litre.

Now more than ever road safety is extremely important, especially with the impact and dangers of technology. The Forbes-Hewlett team is looking into the harmful effects of the use of cell phones on the road. The company wants to do its part to help achieve the goal of Canada having the safest roads worldwide as set out by Canada’s Road Safety Strategy (RSS) for 2015. This performance program is a way to make the situation easier for all Forbes-Hewlett drivers and better for our planet.

Transport Canada’s analysis of the economic data of the freight sector shows that in a growing economy the demand for transport services increases as the number of shipments increases. The data from Transport Canada also shows that the trucking industry “represented the largest segment of transportation services and accounted for 31% of the sector's share of GDP” in 2011. Forbes-Hewlett knows that the demand for transportation services is high and the purpose of its performance bonus and fuel cards is to create a more effective system and to stay current with industry trends.

Forbes-Hewlett cares about boosting the well-being and happiness of its drivers and continuously elevating the quality of its services to clients, so the team encourages driver feedback and welcomes any suggestions to make improvements to its programs.
